We didn’t get a video of our wedding. Alright, so laugh…
In our defence, we were young, poor, in love,
and at the time, it didn’t seem important.
We hired a photographer and proceeded to have
a glorious day. After the wedding, we meant to write
an account of the day to capture all the details we
knew we’d forget. But in the midst of honeymooning,
changing houses and jobs, it never happened.
A year later, our photos were lost. We didn’t track
them down until years later, but by then, memories
had been lost. Things like the words our pastor spoke;
the gorgeous live music; the vows and promises
we made to each other, and the wonderful speeches
by friends and family who have since passed away.
These things have been lost forever.
In the end, if your wedding is as beautiful as ours,
you’ll always treasure it. But memories fade.
The greatest thing that a film can do is capture
those memories, and then save them from slipping
away with the years. That can’t be replaced.
